Was wondering if anyone can confirm by rolling block. It has been rebarreled and restocked.

Under the tang sight is the following (where there is a --- that means the screw holes for the tang sight wiped them out. Don't read anything into the length of the --- there may be more or less letters and numbers gone)

1st Line: Remington Arms Company Ilion, NY
2nd Line: Pat Ma---1864, May 7th, June 11th, Nov 12th, Dec 24 ---7
3rd Line: Dec 3, 1872, Sept 9th, 1873, Jan 12th, March 16th ---4

Here are a few shots of the receiver:

Are there any arabic lettering on the reciever or any other writing or symbols of any kind there. Yours looks to be a #1 RB.Robert

It's a #1 black powder (iron) action used on the .43 Spanish and .43 Egyptian military contract rifles of the 1870's. Later #5 actions (known as models 1897, 1902 & 1910) were suitable for the 7mm Mauser (most common) .30-40, 8mm Lebel, 7.62 Russian and even the .30'06.
With no additional marks I'd say it' most likley a South American contract (I have a Guatamala marked one).
Perfect for .45/70 conversion.

It looks like a No 1 military rolling block action that has been reworked into a nice BPCR. It should be loaded not hotter than what is recommended for a trapdoor springfield but will give you lots of fun for a long time.

NickSS,
totally agree about the mild loads. Did some shooting today and the lighter ones are just more fun to shoot. Accuracy was good with all so I'll be saving powder and my shoulder.

Last patten date should be 1884 and with the straight extractor I would say black powder mod 1 or 1 1/2.
