My 41 mag bore slugs at a solid .410 and my cylinder throats will accept a .4105 bullet.
My sizer sizes to .411.
Question is what effect will the smaller than bullet throat have on accuray and will shooting a heat treated ww bullet be to hard for the smaller throats?
I will either be opening up the throats or getting another sizing die. What are you guys sugestions on either.
Thanks for any info.

Throats smaller than groove size will cause leading, thus poor accuracy. You will probably have to open the throats and get a larger sizer.

If I am reading right I would say you have the perfect step down situation I want in a revolver.
I always want to see a slight step down from boolit diameter to throat diameter and then from throat diameter to groove diameter. A .001" step at each point works good for me.
So in your case you have a .411 boolit diameter stepping down to .4105 through your cylinder right? That is a .0005" step down right?
Then you step down from .4105 through your cylinder to .4100" through your barrel. That is another step down of .0005" correct?
In each transition from boolit diameter to cylinder diameter to barrel groove diameter you have stepped down .0005" right? PERFECT!
What is the problem? Am I reading this right?

+1 what Bullshop says.

thats how i read it too.
regular cast ww's or water dropped both should do just fine.

Just can't get any better as Bullshop says. But I would say even a .410" boolit of the right toughness will also shoot like gangbusters.
It sounds like the revolver is perfect so as long as the boolit is groove to groove size or a little over, go for it.

Thanks for the replys guys.I was not sure about pushing the .411 hard bullet thur the .4105 throats.
seems like i am on go.

Its only having to size .00025" on each side on its way through the cylinder. That aint much!

Bullshop is spot on. Keep in mind, your cylinder throats probably taper down toward the barrel, thats why you can squeeze in a little bit bigger bullet that what you are measuring from your slugs.

If you have correct dimensions, which you probably do, make sure your bullet is hard enough for the velocity you want. You might also check your barrel for any restriction.

The only problem he may have is if his boolit design places the front drive band into the cylinder throats a ways. .411 diameter driveband extending into a .4105 cylinder throat may not chamber and more so if it is of a hard alloy. If the boolits chamber though it sounds like a go.

Sounds to me like all you need to do iis buy a keg or so of powder and cast up about a ton of boolits.

Have fun with this stuff.

Man, is my face ever red! I certainly mis-read that, now didn't I?

My apologies, Dwight, and to the entire forum.
