Took the 338MXLR out to the range today to try out a new boolit. Tom at Accurate moulds drew out a boolit design for me and I had him make one. Ordered it Sunday and it came in last Friday. It casts out at 240gr and is on his website now.
Loaded with as much AA MRP (precursor to AA3100)as I could get in the case and seat the boolit, and a mag primer. I tried them today. Velocity was 1934fps.
(Tried a few with 40gr LVR, but by the recoil and report, way underpowered. Didn't group worth reporting.)
Pulled the one shot farthest left. I think a slightly faster powder would help get rid of the verticle dispersion. Not too shabby a group. As good as factory ammo.
