I aquired an sks and upon slugging it I found a bore that should be very happy with cast boolits. As with all things too good it is. The muzzle is belled to about .320 x.312 in the last 1/4 inch from .314x304. I'd like to back bore about a 1/2 inch how far over bore should I go ?

I counterbored the muzzle on an 1895 Winchester in 30US. I just cut until the grooves were cleaned up which was about .320". It worked great. It became an extremely accurate rifle.

Thanks.

When you bored , did you go .320 deep or accross?

Diameter. .330 is still good. Go as deep as the cleaning rod wear still exists.

Thanks again. Hoping to get out and empty some factory brass so I can get to making it shoot strait. The bore is huge , good thing I shoot cast boolits big enough to fill bores like this one.

I went .320" diameter. I think I only went .100" deep. Just enough to clean up the lands.

I went about .250 deep at .325 . Due to availible tooling. It cleaned up nice.
