For those of you concerned with fumes while casting, I found on a welding supply website heavy metal and dust particle respirators 3M is the manufacturer. The part numbers (apparently two different models) were 8233 N100 and 8214. These ae disposables that are good for how many uses I don't know. They were in the $6 to $10 price range. Hope this helps, Tom.

From what I read "High Efficiency Filters" are specified to remove airborne lead mist/dust/fumes. I need to get some of the filters.

I do use carbon filters when I smelt wheel weights to remove the organic contaminents from the smoke and they are (IMHO) ~98% effective because I can't detect any odor when I smelt.

The HEPA filters are considered to fail when the first bit of odor is detected through them. Gianni.

why dont you just watch people's garbage? people are always throwing out oven hoods with the fan in it. Just mount it over your bench and vent it out through the wall (or a local window with a piece of wood in it)

Mine was $50 bucks at home repo when I installed it, but that's been awhile. Far as I can tell, I was the first one to post that idea some years back, and it works good.

I cut a hole in the wall (vents under the roof eve), cause I didn't want to cut a hole in the roof, and I run a boosted duct fan inline to increase airflow, but I don't think it was necessary.

Comfortable casting with the hood light right where you want it... :drinks:

The fumes coming off of your pot most likely are NOT lead anyways. The melt isn't hot enough. Not that I would want to breath any of it..
