Gents - Been toying with the idea of a new Win 92 in 44 Mag. I currently don't own a pistol caliber rifle and have been tossing the idea around for a while. Anyone know if this model will handle the Lyman 429421 seated to the crimp groove or does it need to be crimped over the front driving band like the Marlin's (this is while using 44 Mag brass obviously) Secondly will this model handle 44 Specials without any hassles - Thanks Bill L

The Rossi version has to be crimped on the drive band, don't know about the Winchester.

One would presume that the "new" Win 92s are made on the same machinery that made the Browning 92s. In my Browning, you certainly have to crimp the
-421 over the front band. I did load some -421s in the special case and that worked. Also loaded the -215 in the mag case and that worked but just barely and not smoothly.

Any issues with loading that boolit in 44 Spl cases and having it cycle with problems?. Thanks Bill

i use the lee 240 swc in the special cases and they cycle fine.
the 429 will cycle also in the one rifle i tried it in.
in my lsi 92 i was able to file the stop button on the lifter to get it to cycle the 429421, in mag cases.
in my browning 92 you have to keep the rounds to minimum saami specs or it won't feed at all.
and in my 94 it will feed the 429 crimped in the groove easily.
if i were loading for one rifle with one boolit, i'd just trim the cases unless they needed trimming all the way back to special length.

i have just about given up on fighting length issues in most of my leverguns and have just gone to a rnfp with a square base.
i then pick a load and load to the crimp groove and shoot the things...

Thanks for that info - I don't want to start "new rifle/ new mould needed" which I've done many times. My Lyman casts perfectly well and am hoping that it'll work just as well in the 92 as it does in my Ruger SBH's. Have plenty of Mag and Spl brass on hand, so I'll more or less find an OAL load which should function. Was just hoping to pick the brains of those who have already go thru the situation - Thanks to all Bill L

Dont know about the M92 but the 429421 fed just fine in Special cases with a 1984 Marlin CB. I also heard that the 44 magnum conversion of the original M1892 was just right for the 44 Special.

My Rossi M92 clone feeds the 429421 Lyman in a 44 Special Case every time, no hassle. It will also feed them in a mag case.

Mt Browing M92 in .44 mag will NOT lift the .44 mag loaded with a 429421 out of the mag, too
long.

Had one of the Brownings a few years ago and it would only feed the heavyer bullets only in .44 Spl cases, not the Mags. Actually, it was quite fussy with about everything. Finially got tired of butting my head into a wall and swapped it off. Don't get me wrong. I like the 92's, have several others but in .44 Mag it was one big headache. I would not buy another.
