Anyone using Amerimax Commerical (.0167") for .30 Cal?
http://www.amerimax.com/productdetail.asp?iProductId=81&iSubCatID=5

Just curious if it's advantageous to go for it, being thicker and closer to the thickness Hornaday apparently uses for .30 GCs, or if 68104 .14" is just as good even for very precise shooting.

Dan, measure the diameter of of the shank of your boolit, them measure the diameter of the sized boolit, then subtract the shank diameter from the boolit diameter, then divide that by 2, it will give you the material thickness.it can be .001 or .002 thicker. Ed

I use Amerimax .014, it is soft and cuts easily. This .016 is listed commercial. I'd check and see if it has the same hardness as the .014 before I bought any.

If you keep that up , it is going to look like a shotgun barrel inside. There won't be any rifling left. Better send me all your aluminum while you still have time.

No! Send it to me! I'll let it oxidize and use it to lap my barrels...

Children, children. ;) The post was .0167 vs .014. Al being the material of both.

But, in the spirit of the jests posted: Nope, for lapping I've dropped Al in favour of silicon carbide GCs.

I really don't see the need for other AL thickness.

Why not go with what's proven in the Amerimax .014, unless of course shooting like Ben's numerous one ragged hole groups are [not] quite good enough ...

Amerimax .014 it is then. Thanks!

I wonder at what point AL GCs will show up from the, currently Cu-only, manufs.

If they ever start selling Aluminum gas checks you are going to pay more as they are much better than copper gas checks don't you know.
Think like PT Barnum there is a sucker born every minute.
