I have been loading the lyman slug for a while. I just cast some lee 1 oz. slugs. I want to use the same loads as I do for the lyman slug. I don't think that should be a problem as the lee slug is lighter but wanted to run it by someone else first. The loads I want to use are as follows.

federal 2 3/4 paper basewad
win 209
31 grains universal clays
waa12f114
Lee slug with .125 nitrocard under.

federal 2 3/4 paper basewad
win 209
36 grains longshot
fed 12s4
Lee slug with .125 nitro card under.

These are loads from the lyman manual with the lee slug substituted.

I tried this load yesterday and shot a 3" group at 70 yds. It is my trap load with the lee slug instead of 1 1/8 oz shot

Rem STS hull
win 209
21 grains intl clays
waa12
lee slug with .125 nitro card under.

Am I right in thinking these lodas should be safe?

dont sub your lee mold cam with data follow it

never sub anything in shotshell loading the PSI will jump not good with a thin barrel

now its ok to sub weight for weight so its ok to sub a 1oz slug in a 1 oz shot load

but thats it nothing else even primers (replacement wads are ok as long as it a replacement of the wad in the data)

So, Do you think its ok to sub a lee slug for a lyman as long as all other data and components follow the recipe in the lyman manual.

well its lighter then both of the lyman slugs

it should be ok as long as you follow the data
