Somewhere I read some posts about how to solve this problem but can't find them. Help. These slugs are sticking so bad I have to use pliers to pull the slug off the base pin (I guess that is what it is called). Nice 1 ounce slugs but way too much trouble at this point.

I smoke the bottom plug to help, still takes some tapping on the hinge to get them free. I use straight WW's.

I had the same trouble. The slug would escpecially stick tot he pin. I tried smoking but no luck.

I scrubbed it clean with Comet scrubbing powder and 0000 steel wool. Doing so, I found some burrs on the pin and fill hole under the sprue plate. These were carefully removed using 600 wet/dry paper. Once to my liking, I scrubbed it again with more Comet using a toothbrush and additional 0000 steel wool.

I bet you have a bur on the core pin. I had to polish mine up a little bit with a jewelers file followed by emery cloth. Works perfect now.

Polish all the machine marks out of the pin with 800 grit sandpaper. Then make sure the pin is HOT before your first cast.

I took the advice to polish the pin and used 500 grit emery cloth to smooth off all the machine marks then buffed with a soft cloth and 900 grit lapping compound. It shines like a mirror now. WOW! They literally fall off the pin when I turn the mold over (I don't need to tap it at all) and I didn't even have to smoke it.

Thanks again for the help.
