I have a Soumi in 9mm coming.I got a Lee 124 gr.Mold I will be casting for it.It has a 16 in barrel. With the long barrel should I being using a slower rifle powder or should I stick with my normal Bullseye and Unique loads?Anyone else load for the 9mm soumi carbine?Mike

Both should be fine but I would probably use the Unique in a longer barrel.

Yes, you might even find a powder that it likes better than the ones you have now. Slower powder will mean a more gradual buildup of pressure that will be gentler on the bullet. I don't think you want to go as far as using rifle powders though. Not enough volume in the case. Some of the most accurate rifle loads I've put together are ones that the powder is rapidly burned and reaches peak pressure quick, then the rest of trip is easy going. Some of my Krag loads generate 37500psi, but the pressure upon exit from a 30in barrel is only 5000psi. Some of the slower burning magnum pistol powders might work well for you, provided your load keeps pressure up enough to burn reasonably clean.

You may want to try Blue Dot. I use that powder for defense loads in a 9mm I forget the charge but it is a compressed load with a 124 gr Gold dot bullet but I get 1208 fps out of a 4 inch barrel so it will be higher from a carbine.
