Maybe a 4 shot 20 gauge or 3 shot 12 will be next? :bigsmyl2:

There is already a 12 ga. 5 shot revolver that has a shoulder stock on it and I'll bet that the stock can be removed......

Ya gotta hand it to Taurus, they're not afraid to try new stuff even if it is kind of silly. Now that 28ga. loaded with Magtec brass hulls, bullets, and black powder would be fun at our local revolver matches!! I'll let somebody else buy one though.

How is it legal ?

I thought the max dia of a pistol or rifle round was a nominal 50 cal

That is why you need non destructive device paperwork for a 600 Nitro Express rifle and the fun toys JDJ is making

shotguns are exempt. That's why the 12ga FH is legal. It fits a 12ga. boltface, so it's a 12ga. right?

Mk42gunner
01-21-2011, 11:15 PM
To be legal the barrel would have to be rifled, like T/C did with some of the Contenders; therefore patterns wil be donut shaped.

This is probably the first time in history that the 28 Ga. has been described as having Massive Firepower.

The latest rumor is that BATFE is going to deny "sporting purpose" status for this one...

Don't think its legal as ATF pulled it from the SHOT show Thursday/Friday. Same with the .410 Mares Leg pistol.

What pistol are you referring to, Re; the "mares leg, .410"?

I know that the 410 handguns get around the DD thing by being rifled and chambering .45 colt, but I have no idea how they'd do that with a 28 Ga, as it's over .5" bore.

Either Taurus knows something about ATF regs that nobody else does or they're just complete idiots.

Taurus is an international corporation. While the US may be their largest, I'm sure we are not their only market. While ATFE may think they rule the world they really don't. Having a weapon pulled from the Shot Show by anti-gun bureaucrats, you can buy that kind of advertising.

Shooting 500 grain gas checked cast bullets, .45 Colt accuracy was exceptional with groups consistently under an inch at three hundred yards.

A .54 cap and ball revolver, loaded with Buffalo Bullets, you might be onto something there.

It's total BS, I think it was last year's April fool joke.

As identified by (other than the mechanical impossibility) these bits (besides explodicatin):

Warren Whippet, S&W's VP of Sales and Markup

S&W's VP of Product Names and Employee Parking Space Assignments

G. Gas Rhonda, S&W's Director of Advanced Gas Port Logistical Engineering

etc. ;)

Some have conjectured that Taurus knew it wouldn't get past the BATmen, but they made one anyway just to yank Smith&Wesson's chain for coming out with a six shot Judge clone.

It would be hard to get anyone enthusiastic about a six shot .410 when the guy down the aisle is flashing around a five shot 28 gauge.

Me, I like my shotguns much more "traditional", but I applaud giving everybody a choice.

I still think if they "Created" a 52Taurus Round (28 slug in brass hull) it could fly. Especialy if the teaser entices enough interest.

I would play with that.

I wonder how they're getting past the NFA classification though?

they didn't do their homework, apparently, 'cause they were informed at the shot show by the Feds they can't make it in it's current configuration (smooth bore)

BS on the 'double autoloader', fancy photoshop job is my bet.

As to the 28 ga Taurus revolver. I grinned and shook my head at
the Judge in .410. With this it is a LOL and wonder if they are
really serious.

As to ATF being idiots - is that supposed to be sarcasm? ;-)

I'm not in the market for a 28-bore revo, but what the heck.

So what do you suppose would happen if they rifled it one turn in 30 feet?

S.R.Custom

Wouldn't make any difference. It's got a bore size larger than 1/2".

The whole "is it legal" thing gets me cranked up but I must admit I have no use for or desire to own one these Taurus freakguns.

I agree but I also think that about owning a .500 S&W.

Years ago if you told someone you were using a 410 shotgun for self defence or home protection , they would no doubt ask why not a 20,16 or 12 ga ? in todays world put a 410 in a revolver that looses about 400 fps over a shotgun length barrel so velocity is really 800 to 850 fps and its fantastic !! the only reason i can think of is now they think dont have to pratice just point in the general direction and after all it is a shotgun .
