I noticed Accurate moulds lists a 400gr. 45 cal. PP bullet. Just what I have been wanting for hunting in the 45-70 and muzzleloaders. Got one coming in .443". This should be fun! And yeah, just paper like the ODG did.

I set my old west mould down to throw a 410 gr bullet and while I haven't shot it much , the little bit I have shot it was very encouraging.

I got a chance to shoot some of my new bullets yesterday. The mould came out a little bigger than I spec'ed, at .444 with the lead I am using. Patched with 9# onionskin it finishes at .4505" so needed a little help from the short starter to load in my Gonic rifle. Once started it slid down no problem. I did wipe the patches with Ballistol right before loading to ease their passage, like I learned from Ned Roberts' book. I fired 30 rounds, and was getting 10 shot groups in the neighborhood of 3 inches at 200 yards. Best load was 90gr. FFg, no wads or grease cookies. Wiped between shots with a patch moistened with Windex. Wipe wet side out then flip it over and wipe dry side out. No fliers, nice round groups. Next time I need to make up more and try them further out on the highpower silhouette range. Looks like it's gonna be a winner!

I been thinking about a brass block for the .44. But I'm waiting for him to make them in adjustable.
