I have a 9 X 57 Mauser with set triggers how do i go about determining what I have what its value is etc. Is there a good site I can go to and fine out? I can post pic’s if someone here can help me out. I only have about 20 rounds of old ammo for it so I will need more brass as well. Any help is appreciated, Thanks

post pictures!

I have an OLD JP Sauer in 9x57 with DST.

You can make cases by expanding 8x57. Groove diameter on the 9x57 most likely will be .356", so tighter than most 35s.

Gorgeous sportized military German 98 mauser. As mentioned you can just run some 8mm Mauser (7.92x57) cases in a 9x57 die. I used to have a similiar 98 with double set triggers but in 8mm-06. Sorry, can't give a estimate on the value.

I'm not at all convinced that's a sporterized military. Maybe an early commercial sporter? I'd try googling up some German sporting arms enthusiasts and do a lot of research...maybe ask over on the double gun forum in the custom rifles section?

I agree with longhorn. Looks like a custom gun or a commercial sporter by a high class mfg. I would guess a custom gun.

Wow,really nice Mauser.I have seen one on a gun show last year.

It was very similar to this one except forend was shorter and it was in a lot worse shape.

If i remember well it was also in 9x57.

I'm pretty sure it is at least a military action because it has the stripper clip cut and the notched left hand rail. Could be an 1909 Argentine action from the description. Maybe our resident Mauser historian will shed light on it.

After going back to the pictures, I'd say it is likely a product of a German gunsmith. A few details have a definite European flair from the mid-50s custom sporters out of Germany. As to value, whatever the market will bare, but upwards of $600 would be my guess. If there are some markings to define it's origin it may well be of considerably greater value due to its maker.

If you look in Arms of the World 1911 you will see that model offered as a factory sporter. Calibers from 6.5 to 10.5MM and various options. I had one in 7.62x63 almost identical to your and it cost me $900.00 a couple years ago. Mine was 1930's manufacture. It's a good ctg and would make a nice deer or moose gun, if I remember right velocity should be right atound 2500fps with a 250 grain bullet. The last one I shot or loaded for was 3 years ago or so and I would have to look up my loading info. These were offered in 1/2 to full stock and if I remember right yours is called a trappers rifle.
