Will the conversion unit for a Dillon 550 work on a 650, or are they different? I have friend with a 650 and I've offered him the .223 conversion from my 550, then realized they may be unique to the machines. Thanks!

No, it will not work. 550 is 4 station and 650 is 5 station

I'd trust an answer here a lot more than randomly picking an answer from the 'net.

You must not own either one. I'd guess that the brass buttons probably interchange, but the
other part of the kit is the shellholder plate which has 4 vs 5 stations as stated above,
and much larger, no way interchangable.

The powder funnels and buttons interchange. The only other part of the 550 kit is the shellplate and it is different between the loaders.

In a related note, parts from one conversion kit can work for other calibers also. For example, the 30-06 powder funnel will work for a 30-30 (or any other .30 cal) even though the shellplate is different. Dillon has a guide that tells you which part of the conversion kit is needed for each caliber.

Well....................

If one of my buddies calls me to ask a basic reloading question, .....my first response IS NOT "coulda easily googled that!".

We're all buddies here!

......And besides, most of us are "far enough along" that we repeat ourselves all the time anyway! (......And we like to hear ourselves talk!)

So what's the harm?????:kidding::kidding:

Personally, I'd have checked the Dillon web site. But that's just me. :roll:

I think they have an 800 number, too.

I'm the original poster and yes, I could have 'Googled it' or possibly checked the Dillon website I guess.......

There were two reasons I asked the question on this forum:

1.) Responses here are usually quick and accurate.
2.) Responses here are usually quick and accurate in a friendly manner.

If someone posts a question and I have an authoritative answer, based on actual experience or knowledge, I'm going to try and help.......and that's the way it should be!
