Hi All....Have decided to give Alliant 2400 a try in my two 41 MAG S&W M57's....I have not used 2400 in a LOOOOOONG time...at least 25 yrs...and way back then it was only for my 357 & 44 MAGS...been using Unique for mid range loads and H110/WW296 for full power loads...There seems to be somewhat of a fuss re ball powders causing gas cutting..I did experience this back in 1975-76 in my M29...it had to go back to S&W for repair re gas cutting as I was using WW296 exclusively in THAT S&W....OK...I do not want to start with the gas-cutting thing...

Where do I start with 2400 in the 41 MAG..??? I am using 220gr Keith H&G #258...my own cast bullets...weigh in at 223gr. in Lyman #2 Alloy...What would be a MAX. Load..??? I am counting on my Chronograph to keep me out of trouble re max loads and velocities...

What say ye learned gentlemen..??

Thanks to all..
Pete

Elmer Keith used recommend 19-20 gr of the 2400 he had for this bullet-- of course these were top loads-- +1 on 41magfan

Use standard primers to lessen the pressure spike.

They did for me -- I have never really used anything else---unless I had to

I've used as much as 19.5 2400 with either an RCBS 41210 KT or Lyman's 410610, which actually weigh 208gr cast from Linotype. With 2400, I like them HARD.
I use them in a 4" M58 and a 6" M57.
I've compared CCI 350s and Federal 155s, but see no need, as CCI 300s are my usual primer, and Federal 150s, RP 2 1/2s, and Magtech 2 1/2s are almost identical, with small SDs. I can't see where WW LPs are different.
I'm going to be trying water-dropped WW+2% and Magnum-alloyed boolits as soon as the weather and my day off happen at the same time.
Have fun,
Gene

Alliant does not have data for this bullet on their website, but does show the 210gr jacketed with a max of 19 grains with a CCI300 standard primer.

Just started this last year in 41 mag, a blackhawk and a contender. 15.7 grains of 2400 does good in the Blackhawk with the 220 grain Keith. I have a lyman re-pop of the mold. Have managed to shoot 100 meters (and really hit what I'm aimin' at) with the 15.7 load, it comes from a TC LoadbookUSA manual.

Oh yes, standard Winchester primers.
