Just back from the field and found the breech was jammed. On investigation I found on of the action pins had worked it's way out and was poking through this hole, therefore jamming the action.

When I picked up the rifle it was fitted with scope mounts and this was fitted using this thread. Look like it needs a blank to cap off the hole.

Anyone know the part No. required or a suitable on-line orderable source that may ship to the UK?

Model 94 .30-30 Win. Serial No. 308*861. I think its manufactured date was around 1967.

The missing plug screw is for keeping the pin in the bolt that the lever is fixed to the bolt with.

For the part, check with Numerich/GPC. Should be a parts diagram on their site. Not sure if they export.

Unfortunately Numrich (gunparts corp) shows that part-- Finger lever pin stop screw-- as being "Sold Out". You might be able to make one. Determine the diameter and pitch on the plug that is in there. Get a short machine screw that is same diameter and pitch with a head large enough to fit recess in receiver. Turn down end to match what the original would be. Cut off to correct length. Turn screw head down if needed to match recess and contour (shallow domed filister head) in receiver. A drill or drill press, hacksaw and mill file are all tools needed. It's a part that carries no load, so hardness or type of steel is not important.

You mentioned that the rifle had a scope mount which used this threaded hole. Can you modify the scope mount screw which mated this hole? At least, you can determine the thread size from this screw. John

I will have a rummage through my parts stash as the original screw maybe mod'able. It was just too long as it took up the thickness of the scope mount.

Just had a tip off of a UK supplier that may be able to obtain stock (BWM Arms, Didcott, Oxfordshire). If that doesn't pan out then I have found the original screw so I could try to machine down (not much meat to hold it in a chuck with) or , as above, careful filing would do the job.

Ya I think the posts did pass each other in the ether, traveling.... relative V=2C. Wonder if they waved at each other, the waves appeared in slow motion warp. :)

Those short screws are a pain. That's why I try to start with something longer, chuck on the end of the screw shank, turn down the shank and head first, then cut off to final length.

Marlin.45, As long as we are talking screws and threads, would I be correct in stating that the UK has gone metric? My Lister diesel engine has all metric fasteners. Are BA and Whitworth fasteners readily available. Perhaps your M94 shoots 7.62x52 ammo now days.

I found a place called Midwest Gun Works. You can google the site they had your screw at the low low price of only $5.00 (things are getting crazy) but it looks like what you need. If they won't ship it to you PM me and we'll get there.

Obviously you didn't want the scope mount or you'd have left it one there, but I have an old Redfield mount with the screws. It's in the box out in my shop.

UK went Metric back in the '70's but some of us still hold on to the old 'English 'systems. UNF/UNC/BA/Whit is still available but hard to find. I have a '66 Land Rover in the yard that is almost all Whit :p

Cheers for that Dean, but I found the old screw from the scope mount.

Cheers for the offer John. They won't ship to the UK (Part No. U344910080) so if BWM don't pan out then I may PM you. Very much appreciated.

Sorted the problem. Colleague in my Columbia, MD. office will ship the part out to me when she gets them through internal mail :)
