I note that Buffalo Arms offers the Cimarron/Uberti 1885 Hi-Wall in 405 Winchester. Does anyone here own one? If so, do you know the groove diameter and rate of twist?

My 45-70 firing a 306 grain SAECO boolit at 1600 fps will cleanly take the large ram down at 350 yards. I should be able to get a 325 grain boolit in the 405 Winchester case to 1600 fps (or more) and was thinking it would be a good cartridge for our local Buffalo matches. A Hi-Wall would be just the ticket IMO.

Anyone wanting a 405 or 45/70 on a high wall 1885 action should be looking at Davidson's right now.
They are offering the Miroku made Browning/Winchester in those calibers for $699.00
They come in two models. The traditional hunter with curved but comes with the barrel mounted buck horn sight in addition to the tang mounted Marbles sight.
The standard model come with only the barrel sight but has a modern but pad installed.
If I were looking I would get the standard model then if wanted add the tang sight.
IMHO this is a way better deal for a better product than the Italian imports.

Bullshop, thanks for the heads up but it appears that Davidson's is out of all 1885 Hi-Walls in all calibers. I already have the Traditional Hunter in 45-70 and 38-55. It would be nice to add the 405 to the list.

There was a thread last week in which a fellow says he called CDNN and they were out of the Traditional Hunter rifles except in 32-40. Even at $800 the Winchester Hi-Walls are a bargain in today's market.

CDNN may have the 24" barrel "Sporter" model Hi-Wall but I want the 28" barrel as a minimum because of the sight radius..... old eyes etc. I haven't called so I don't know that for a fact.
