I am always interested in 22 molds, but I have never seen any of the H&G 22 molds. Is there anyone who has one that might be willing to send me a couple of samples? Thanks, Billy

Interesting point. I have never encountered one either but would love to have a couple.

I thing that during the .22 cast popularity years (during the war), Lyman and Guy Louverin had the market sewed up as far as cast .22s. After that period, Fred Huntington's swaged jacketed .22s and Sisk too over and there was very little market for H & G to enter.

Just my thoughts on it./beagle

You could be right beagle, I dunno, but an old catalog on TexasFlyBoy's H&G site shows 6 different 22 molds in 1940. I think he abandoned the rifle molds soon after that.

I don't know George Carlson, but he did an article in Castpics about the 218 Bee and showed the #4 and #62 boolits. So there are a few out there. Apparently not very many though. Thanks, Billy

There are a few folks who are members here who have .22 caliber Hensley & Gibbs moulds. I am not one of them.

With the overwhelming availability of relatively inexpensive .22 Caliber jacketed projectiles, I've never had the urge to try .22 cast.

By my memory, I've only seen a total of 10 or less .22 caliber rifle moulds for sale on eBay or elsewhere. Fairly rare birds.

I have a #4 that at 42gr & a #62 at 65gr probably made for a .22 High Power. Both are gas check type. ....Tried both in .22 Hornet, .218 Bee, 222 Rem. plus a few trial in a .223. I think if you check Castpics you might see pictures of them in Articles by members....Geo

George, I saw those in the article about the 218 Bee, curious about the #62, does it come out of the mold .228+. Thanks much, Billy

With WW, it measures .226 on the bottom band and curiously it gets larger as you go up. Middle one is .227 and top one is not quite .228. My Ideal 228367 goes a even .229....Geo

Thanks for the info George. Odd how that is thinner at the bottom. If you ever have a couple extra laying around, I'd love to have a sample.

My 228367 goes at .230, but I have sized it down successfully to .225. Not BR accuracy, but acceptable. Was going to make a faster twist 219 Zipper to use it in, but haven't got to it yet.
Thanks much, Billy
