Does anyone know the story of where Marlin went and who owns them now?

Go to marlinowners.com....and be prepared to read for awhile. Lots of emoting!

Short version is that the holding company that owns REMINGTON bought MARLIN and production of various models is in either the New York or North Carolina Remington facilities.

The short story is The Freedom Group owns Remington®, Bushmaster® Firearms, DPMS/Panther Arms™, Marlin®, H&R®, The Parker Gun™, EOTAC™, Mountain Khakis®, Advanced Armament Corp. ®, Dakota Arms® and Barnes® Bullets. They've closed both the Marlin and Bushmaster factories and moved them to Remington's Ilion, NY factory, with some services being conducted from Madison, NC.

Hope this helps.

Do they do these things to jack up the demand on what is available new and used gun values, or what? First Winchester Big Bores, and then the regular 94's, and now Marlins. Ouch.

I know where there is a nice Marlin 30-30 with a straight grip, 3/4 tube, that I'd like to have badly, but I thought the price too high then - $450 with a bunch of extras. I am reconsidering that now, after hearing some of the reports.

Why would Remington reopen Bushmaster, when most probably the reason they bought & closed Bushmaster was to get the technology & tooling so they could introduce their now new line of AR's.

IMHO, S&W's done the same thing with T/C - buying then closing, to get the barrel and investment casting goodies.

Don't take it personal, it's jes biz-nezz........................... :violin:
