I have a 1916 Carl Gustaf Swedish Mauser, model 38 short rifle. I would like to find an original wood stock for it, complete with all necessary hardware.
I have no clue how to find what I need. Can one of you military rifle guys help me out?

Thanks!

GO to http://www.surplusrifle.com/mauserswedish/index.asp or

http://curioandrelicfirearmsforum.yuku.com/forums/18 or maybe

http://www.tngunparts.com/

Ask around at the above links, someone should have one.

Or maybe fleabay

If you can find one for a 96 and are good at stock work you can cut it down.

Grinch, Jake,
Thanks so much, guys! Those are the leads I'm looking for.

Can y'all help me out with some more details? Truth is, I don't know what I'm going to need as far as stock hardware is concerned. I apologize for my ignorance, but I ask BECAUSE I'm ignorant!
I have no problem buying all necessary components, I just don't want to buy parts I don't need and I SURE want to get the parts I do need.

Thanks, fellas!

I would post a WTB/WTT ad here. There are a lot of stocks and hardward laying around since so many of these rifles were sporterized over the years when they were cheap and plentiful. If you get a stock set from an individual you may be able to get a matched set that the Swedes finished up so that the stock and handguard were a good match, not necessarily in wood color but in the fit of the edges. I was faced with the same situation when I bought a 38 (converted by the Swedes from a M96) that had been sporterized by only cutting off the forearm. I got impatient and got a stock I shouldn't have gotten, and later got a good matched stock and handguard not matched by serial number but matched in fit by the Swedes. There are a lot of Swede parts out there; I would try to find a private source before I ordered from one of the dealers.

Good idea, Higgins. I'll do that.

Jim, I have a complete Model 38 stock with the hardware if you would care to have it. The price is right as well, yours for the shipping. I believe it has all the bands and buttplate but will have to check to make sure. If you are interested PM me.
