Wasn't sure where to post this so let's try it here.
Has anyone tried paper patched bullets in their 405 WCF? I have been thinking about doing so with my 1895 but thought I'd seek others experience before I blaze old trails.
I did a search but was unable to locate any threads.

I have not done so but I have tried PP in a 40-65 Win and except for a few thousandths larger in diameter bullet they are near the same caliber. I see no reason that you can not do it as long as you buy a good PP mold for your bullets.

Just a bump to see if there is any more info.

I have messed with the 360 gr .400 bullet from the BACO mould, and my rifle did show some inclination to liking those with a final patched diameter around 408. But I have not returned to that project in the last year or so, altho it is something I keep thinking I need to get to.

Don,
I recall one of the powders you use in the 405 is 5744, is that what you tried with the PP? Just looking to not reinvent the wheel.

Yes I was using 5744 , I'ld have to double check but I believe it was 25 grs with that bullet.
Patches were cut from papermill 9 lb onionskin.
