actually ( since you asked ) palm wax is made from the oil palm elaeis tree , read this link plz and note most the listed uses

carnuba on the other hand is also a palm wax albeit a lil different

" Carnauba, also called Brazil wax and palm wax, is a wax of the leaves of the palm, Copernicia prunifera, a plant native to and grown only in the northeastern Brazilian states of Piauí, Ceará, and Rio Grande do Norte.[1] It is known as "queen of waxes"[2] and usually comes in the form of hard yellow-brown flakes. It is obtained from the leaves of the carnauba palm by collecting them, beating them to loosen the wax, then refining and bleaching the wax."

wiki has a link on the oil palm ( aka oil palm elaeis tree ) and altho both are related it's kind of like that old saying " cows leave patties but to be true b.s. it has to come from a bull " weird analogy i know but the drift/gist is the same , both are palm waxes in truth but only one is carnuba

If you want to make your own lube, I suggest you start with the Felix recipe. It is a proven formula most of us can relate to, and it would be interesting what you may be able o develop for advancements! If you are going for improvements, you may as well start with some of the best.

Waksupi is right. Felix lube is a proven performer, is easy to make, and has a long track record. You can do worse but it will be tough to do better.
