I ordered a Lee six cavity mold from Graf and Sons an it just came in today. I opened up the box and there are no handles on the mold. Do the six cavity molds not come with handles or did I get a box that was opened and the handles removed?

Sorry I just looked it up and handles are not included. Doh!!!

I made the same mistake on my 6 handle mold. Still I like it as I can make lots of .45 swcs fast.

Darn I was looking forward to casting some 9mm this week end. Now I'll have to wait until the handles come in. Fixing to order them right now.

Centaur 1,

That's just plain evil. Funny though.

So the sad news about Lee mold handles is they suck. They break, they slide off, they're too thin/narrow for my taste, wood is low quality...they just suck. That being said I have several that I live with and just epoxied them on.

The good news is there are two sources for better handles...much better handles. The bad news is that while they aren't silly expensive, they're a lot more than stock handles. Maybe three sources but the last one I'm not sure about.

First is: KAL Tool & Die http://kal.castpics.net/Handles.html
Good news is great quality and customer service.
Bad news here is they they're in Canada, don't take credit cars and you have to mail money orders or checks, etc. They are also the most expensive at $34.00 Canadian. If you haven't looked lately, CA and US dollars are about the same.

Next is: MP-molds.
Good news, I can tell you they make top quality molds. I have a couple.

Bad news is, while they're cheaper, $23.00, great quality but they're overseas...like Eastern Europe but never had a problem though.

Third is: http://www.biglube.com/BulletMolds.aspx?ItemID=0eeebd4b-02a2-4d94-a40a-32e1cc4c3d4d
I have a couple of molds by D/D and they're made by Lee but in my opinion, are better quality. Not a lot better but better.
Good news is they are the cheapest at $19.00. The customer service is great.
Bad news is at $19.00 I'm not sure how much better they are than Lee handles. I don't own a set.

I have had to be out of casting and reloading for some time due to illness and am just getting back to it.

I have several Lee molds that I need to improve by getting better mold handles and steel sprue plates.

I must be doing something wrong. I've been using Lee molds for years and I never had a problem with the molds or the handles.
