I have a bit of a problem with the 480 Vaquero. It shoots high with my load... about 15 inches. The load is 22gr of H110 with a 400gr cast, probably running in the neighborhood of 1100fps. How much would I have to add to the front sight to get it regulated? I tried an online sight height caluclator and I figure I will need to add about .120. Does this sound right?

I called Huntington and he will replace the front for free under warranty, but I want to take a deer with it this season. So I ordered a new allan foundry sight from Brownells that is 15mm high that I will rough shape and install until I send it in. Of course since I am going to be without it while he works on it, it needs more than a replacement sight:) I want 4 5/8, and he is leaning towards 4" and S&W style adjustable rear. I'll post some pics when it is finished.

Here is the 2 shots after I moved the target lower on the box. Gonna be a shooter!

Here is the front sight that will be in today. Just trying to see how much to initially shorten it when I install it.

You can try a lighter boolit at a higher velocity. If possible.

You need the distance between the front and rear sights, the distance to the target, and the amount of vertical change required (15"). Everything must be in the same units; I'll use inches (25 yards = 900 inches). Let's say the distance between the sights is 8 inches. The additional height of the front sight required to move point of impact 15 inches is (8*15)/900 = 0.133 inch.
