Ruger sight?

I bought a Lyman 56RU sight receently. From what I have found this sight was for a Ruger. As the 10/22 is not d&t was the orginal 44Mag carbine d& t from the factory or did this sight require that whichever carbine it was used on be d&t to mount it? I plan on mounting it on an old 10/22, it looks like the correct spot is centered between the rear holes for a scope mount but on the side of the receiver. If the orginal 44Mag carbines were d&t for a receiver sight could anyone who has one tell me where the holes for it were located?
