slugs in bp shotshells

ok so i just got a old single barrel shotgun with a 2.5"

the owner cut the barrel down to 18.5"

i got 50 brass shells with it

so can i use slugs or round ball in it

it has no choke in it so i dont need to worry hell i can load steel in it if i want :kidding:

i got 100 gold medal but i want them for my other shotguns

any somkeless loads for the brass

How old is this shotgun? If it was made in the 20th Century, there's a good chance that it's nitro proofed, however , it it has 2.5 inch chambers, I'd have it looked at by a compitant gunsmith before I tried any smokeless or steel loads in it.

Almost all standard 12 Gage loads are for the 2.75 inch shell/chamber combinations. Then you also have the 3 inch Magnums which should not fit your shotgun.

.69 caliber Round Ball fitted into a 12 Gage shot cup will shoot just fine with 60 to 70 grains of 2Fg. If you decide to use those brass cases, and they are of early manufacture, the inside diameter will allow you to use a .75 caliber soft lead ball.

First, I will admit I'm not a shotshell reloader. I know there are those here that do and can help.

I can't help but wonder if the data can be used in brass cases. I don't see why not.

I'd suggest you contact Missionary. From what I understand, he's very knowledgeable in shotshell reloading.

i dont trust the barss cases to hold up with somkeless
and you have to use all components listed in data for shotshell

so subing a brass case for a gold medal is not a good thing to do
