Been loading the Lee 9mm 120 gr. boolit for several years with an OAL of 1.10. I got this OAL from looking at a similar shape and weight boolit in the Lyman manual. Works fine in all the 9mm handguns I've tried it in. 3.3 gr. of Clays, 1050 fps.
Today I got two new STI Spartans in 9mm, supplied with two each Mec Gar magazines. One ran fine through a couple of mags. The other one had trouble from the git-go. The rounds are catching on the bottom of the barrel. Either the angle of thew round is too shallow as it feeds, or the round is too long and hitting the barrel before the mag lips start to elevate it.

Anyone shoot this boolit in a non-ramped 1911? Any advice?

If the bottom of the barrel is catching them might the link be too long? In years past it was popular to install longer than standard links in an attempt to increase accuracy however this practice is frowned upon as it can cause feeding issues and also cause undue stress on the locking lugs in the slide.

None of my 1911's barrels extend far enough to get in the way of the boolit.

I know you said the pistol is new but still.
