Anyone got this mold? Looks like a Lee version of the Lyman 358156 to me.
If so, I may have to get one. I have a 4 cav Lyman but it is my least favorite mold ever. The Lyman 4 cav handles are a pain in the ........

Looking to try it in my Marlin 1894c.

Since you already have the Lyman version, I would suggest the Lee 358-158 RFN

I want the swc but hate the Lyman mould due to the handles. For those who don't know the Lyman 4 cav handles hinge on the far side of the mould. Not between the handle and the mould like normal but on the far side of the mould. Not at all easy for me to use. That combined with the massive block of iron the mould is made of has lead me one my quest for a viable alternative.

I have a 4-cavity 358156 too. That is a heavy mold to work with after a while but it sure drops pretty boolits.

I have the C358-158 SWC in a 2-banger. Whereas the 358156 has two crimp grooves, the C358-158 has one. Since I discovered the Lee 358-158 RF, I find no need to load a gas checked boolit.

For my 357 Cowboy Rifles, I prefer the NOE 360 180 Wide Flat Nose....PB and GC in my mould.

The NOE 360 200 SWC, also GC and PB both, feeds through my guns, but I haven't shot any yet. They also make a shorter 150 +/- grainer in PB that looks good.

You can cast a pile of boolits d*** quick with a NOE five cavity...aluminum block and LEE handles...excellent quality.

If you want a lighter mold, the aluminum Lee ones are OK, NOE's and BRP's are great. They all are easier on the wrist and save alot of weight. If it's simply a matter of the handles you don't like, buy a new set. I agree the older Lyman nutcracker handles are a pain, I didn't like them and sold the ones I had. Now I use KAL handles, and they are regular type handles. The new Lyman 4 cavity handles are also "pliers" type handles instead of the old nutcracker style. Change the handles, you might like the mold alot better.

I like the iron molds and don't mind the weight, when used with better handles.

if the handles are your problem(nut cracker style) you can get different handles that hinge between the handle and the mold.
member red river rick, on this site sells top quality handles from his shop that fit 4 cav. lymans.
good price also. i bought a set for my 4cav 429421.. love them. they are easier to use than the other style handles IMHO

p.s.
i think the price is $30.00

+1 for RedRiverRicks Handles. He is the owner of KAL. I have 4 sets of his handles. They are verey nice to work with. I will buy more of his handles, as soon as my group buy molds come in.

The only thing I do not care for is the Lee boolit sits deeper in the case than the Lyman. Not really a problem unless you are loading whompum-stompum loads. I just prefer the projectile to be a little closer to the throat.
