Ideal mold values?

Hey gang...

I ran across a box of molds at a shop yesterday. They had 3 or 4 old 4-holers that looked brand new with the goop still on 'em. Two of them were Ideal molds.

I didn't have a pen so I couldn't write down the mold numbers for them but the 4-holers were $60 each. Good deal? No handles.

I think it depends on the mould. In my looking I see some ideals for $25 and some modles in the $100 range. For a 4 banger I think its a decent deal. See if they will take $125 for all 3 or $150 for all four.

60 sounds good to me especially if they are new. The 4 cavity usually run about $100 but it depends where you are looking and the type of mould too. I notice 38 WC moulds run a little cheaper probably because there are so many out there and not much difference between WC moulds. At worst case I don't think it's a bad deal.

Ideal moulds are considered by some to be of better quality and workmanship than many of the late Lyman marked moulds which can be hit or on quality. It sounds like quality of new Lyman moulds is more often a miss.
