Does anyone know if the scope rings are the same for the #1 and the M77?

ok ya im just an ol smartass. seriously tho...

the rings from the ruger factory are diff in the #1 and the m-77. the 77 rings are a different height front and rear while the #1 rings are the same height front and rear. you can also get short,,medium,,tall rings for either rifle but the 77's all have a diff height for the front and rear scope rings.

The #1 rings can be used on the #3 as well. You need to use the Ruger #3 bases however and they are different heights front and rear to compensate.

FWIW,
I just stuck a set of Leupolds on a #1 and liked them a little better than Ruger's and a lot better Burris's.
You might check them out.

I like the Leopolds also, but I need the QD feature. If Leopold had a lever QD ring for the #1, I'd buy it.

I usually use Leupold QD mounts exclusively on my guns. I have a couple of No1s to scope. Can you get the QD rings for these? You can get them for pretty much anything else.

A local company that sells a lot of target stuff reckon that the Ruger rings are the worst when it comes to being poorly aligned and tend to put more stress on the scope tube than other sorts, but are ok after reaming and aligning. Mind you, I have been using them for years and never noticed, but I'm not 'out there' like the precision guys.

I have the Leopold QD's on my muzzleloader, but they aren't available for the #1. I found Warne QD's, but they are mediums and i wanted to use lows. Looks like I'm going to have to use them anyway.
