What loads are you shooting in it. It is built on a much heavier frame than the CA Bulldog.

Lee 200 grain RNFP seems to be something a great load could be built around.

I had one of the 441's with a 3 inch barrel. Same gun with adjustable rear sight. It shot well with the Lee boolit you describe. I used various pistol/shotgun powders, but as I recall Unique worked as well as anything. The problem was it had .434+ cylinder throats, so I Beagled my mold to get the slugs as large as I could. I think large throats are common on the Taurus guns. Good luck with it.

I have one of the 4 inch SS fixed sight models. I Shoot 429-421s out of it over 2400. It does well. In the past it has done well with 200gr RNFPs with Titegroup too though.

I had a 4 inch version with adjustable sights. The Skeeter load does 875 fps. The Speer 200 gr j-word ammo went 820 fps. The revolver really was the right size for a carry 44 Special. Was combat accurate. Wish I had it back. The start load of Unique with the cowboy 200 gr RNFP will work nicely for a practice load.

I have a 441, 6" stainless. Seems to prefer 200-215 gr. cast over lighter or heavier. Good accurate, reliable trouble free revolver.

So what is the starting load with Unique and 200 grain RNFP?

I have been shooting 6.7 grains of AA#5 with the Lee 200 grain RNFP boolit which the gun seems to like pretty well.

I have not shot anything heavier, and may get around to 452.1's 250 RNFP ir 429421.

The Lee 200 RNFP seemed to me to be the best compromise between boolit weight and velocity.

My 431 probably has the best SA trigger of anything I own and DA may be the best also.

Most manuals show somewhere around 7.0 grains. Work up slowly from there.

I used to have a 3" 431 along with a 3" CA Bulldog. This was in the early 90's and my reloads for those two guns was a swaged 240 LSWC. Powder was either Unique, AA5 or AA7. (I was shooting a lot of AA powders then). The Taurus well functional just didn't have the feel as my other Smith 3" K frames so it went to a friend. Don't have access to my reloading logs at the moment for another 6 months.
