I already posted a WTB in the classifieds, but wonder if y'all know of anyone selling Schmidt-Rubin magazines for a 1911 (K11)? My search-fu found one at Colorado Gun Sales, but it costs about what I have in the rifle to begin with!

I picked up a sporterized Schmidt-Rubin K11 that has been properly reworked to .308 (shortened from the breech, then refitted and new chamber cut). Spent all of 99 bucks for it, plus shipping. Sticker shock at the replacement magazine though, $89.95 plus shipping! Naturally I will pay the tariff...if necessary. I am hoping the hive may have a vendor who is a bit less proud of his Swiss metal work however.

It is destined to be a cast boolit rifle, and seems as though it is really nice shape other than the missing mag. Oh, Numrich is out of stock BTW.

Thanks in advance!

That's probably about the going rate. You could contact Guisan at the SwissRifles website.

I bought one from Colorado Gun Sales a few months ago at $89 + $10 shipping only to find afterwards AIM had them for $35. I just looked and they don't list that item on their web sight anymore.

I believe the magazines that AIM has were for the K31. Magazines for the 1911 and K11 will not interchange with the K31 due to a slight difference in the location of the mag release. My 1911 and K11 mags are identical so if you can find one from either rifle, you're in business.

I think that Colorado Gun's price is about the going rate for a 1911/K11.

I would give Guisan a try. There is also a fellow who goes by "Swissdagger" who is a good source for Schmidt parts. I bought a 1911 at an estate auction once that needed a couple parts. I contacted him and had them, from Switzerland, in a couple weeks at a very fair price. He may still have auctions on Gun Broker. If you can't find an email addy PM me because I think I still have his mailing address

Otony,
Yea, I've dealt with Dan for some time now, and find him to be
very honest and fair. I don't live to far from him.
Glad I could help,
Denny

I've done biz with Swissdagger in Swissland. He's a honest fellow.

And Guisan is a Dutchman so you're good to go there. How can you distrust anybody who can dance in wooden shoes? Have you ever tried that?

Dutchman, I have danced in wooden shoes! Bought a nice pair in Holland on my first trip over there, and still pull them out now and then to entertain the kids. [smilie=l:

I am sure all the folks mentioned are honest as the day is long, but the wanna-be Scotchman in me just likes the good deals.

BTW, any idea when you will have scout bases available for GEW 98s? My 8.15x46r is demanding some attention! [smilie=1:

I will do more w*rk on the Gewehr 98 scope mount. They will also be more $$$ because there is a lot more machine w*rk. But it is an extremely rigid and stable mount. I'm really pleased with how it's going on that mount.

My father was a dancer at the Dutch Pavilion at the World's Fair in Chicago in 1934. He loved dancing in those dumb clod hoppers.

The secret to wooden shoes: heavy wool socks :).
