What percent meplat size is optimum for SWC's in magnum revolvers?
How big before the size becomes detrimental to accuracy or to hunting performance?
Anyone have experience in this?
Any thoughts?

65% min. is a number i hear thrown about a lot.
i have used 100% before and it did it's job.
but i usually keep handgun shots under 50 yds.
unless someone wants to see some 5-6" goups.

I'm plotting on a multiple use mold for .41 mag (WC, HP SWC, HP WC, HB WC and GC WC). The SWC nose would have a 80% meplat at about 0.37" using the 38-55 Postell blocks I have available for the modifications to be done on. Reckon 80% oughta work.

This is a 44 Full Wadcutter. Accuracy drops of REALLY fast at 70 yds or MORE.
At 100yds and a full cylinder full of ammo latter, there will be a clean target at the berm.

The big Lee 45-300 FN (think that's the number) has about a 77% meplat, and I've found that I have to push it as fast as I can to get it to stabilize much past 50 yards in my revolvers. At 75 yards some loads aren't bad, but all loads that hit the target at 100 yards show tipping out of a revolver. The 100 yard results out of a rifle are better, but I don't like marginally stabilized boolits for hunting.
