Have a Optima Elite 45-70 and am using a cast lee 340 gr. I loaded it with 15 grains of Unique and at 25 yards shot one ragged hole. Only had time for the 25yd distance and will try further out next time. Does anyone "know" about what speed these things are going and would this be enough for pig shooting out to 75 yds(thick woods)? Thanks

your load should be going somewhere around 1300 fps and should be plenty to kill pigs at 75 yards provided that you know where it shoots. If you zero your ifle for 100 yards and fire it at 50 yards you will get and idea as to trajectory and can copensate but pigs at 75 yads should not be a problem to hit.

NickSS, thanks for the information. In the next day or so I will be able to shot it at both 50 and 100 yds. I was concerned that this load had enough energy to hammer a pig....... I had fired the Hornday Leverevolution and do not care for it - cost, sharper recoil then my 458wm that I used for bears(three) while in Alaska and accuracy. Now using ww dropped in water and as mentioned 15 grs unique.
