Anyone use the " SWISS PRECISION POWDER"/ It is reasonably priced and they say it has the same properties of 4198. Just thought I would see if anyone has pulled the trigger on this stuff yet.

Saw that and pondered on it but for $ 14.00 on 8 # the difference in $$ isn't great enough for me to start new load developments

I have shot a few from a 6x45 with J-words, seems a little slower than IMR. Accuracy was great, very clean burning. I was using what would have been a max charge with IMR powder, but it appeared I had room to go up a bit more. The powder has a high solvent smell to it. I have some Krag loads that I've not tried yet, some 168s in the 2000fps range.

I think I might get some just to check it out. I am doing a buy with a few other people so I can afford to do a bit of testing. I will post the results when I get some action with this stuff.

21.5gr in 5.56 with 52gr a-max bullets super accurate in a sr556, will have results from 225646 gc boolits as soon as i can cast some from a new mold that came from midsouth recently now that i finally got a top punch for it from buffalo arms. I am thinking of trying this swiss powder in 30-30 and 30-06 with some loads i found in a 1960's lyman load book

I have used it in the 30-30, 32 spl, 45-70, 38-55, and 500 S&W. It does indeed do practically the same thing as 4198. And it does smell bad in the jug. But it is good, accurate, clean burning stick powder.

I have an 8# jug of this to use in my Krag because it was $40 less than IMR4198 at the time I bought it. It has a lot of qualities but when loading it grain for grain it came up 200fps less that IMR4198. It did shoot to the same point of aim and grouped the same as well. I need to get back to working up loads using that powder and see if another grain or two will bring it up to my previous velocities attained with 4198 and hopefully tighten the groups up better.

Works very good in a Swiss rifle. Shot these groups with a scoped K31. First group was the five shot group, and the first since I had the rifle out of the stock. Next was six shots, both were at 100yds. Velocity previously clocked at 2000fps. 25.7gr of it under an Eagan MX3-30-AR that weighs 164gr.
