txpete- I've done some; still haven't found a nice higher-end load, though some of my low velocity ones show a lot of promise. I purchased some of NEI's .375-304-GC from Bullshop and I have an RCBS .37-250-FN mould both of which show a lot of promise. My rifle, Model 70 classic stainless, doesn't seem to like plain-base, or more correctly it does really weird stuff with PB's. I haven't really figured out the why's, and have only done one experiment with around 6 different strings, but when I shoot PB's, the POI shifts around 18" left. The rifle still groups fairly well, just a foot & half to the left??? Anyway, I LOVE the cartridge,(especially up here in AK); as far as cast goes, the jury is still out, but it looks good so far. Hope this helps

I fancy a Ruger No1 in 375H&H, loaded with lead boolits for Sambar (elk sized asiatic deer). Trouble is, it would just be the same as my 375Win big bore. MIck.

I shoot quite a bit of cast in mine M70 three six bits. I use a .375 RB (80 gr) lightly lubed with LLA over 4 gr of Bullseye for 893 fps. Shoots 1.5" 5 shot groups at 50 yards. Great for plinking, grouse, ptarmigan and rabbits (edible ones). recoil is non existant and about as loud as a .22 short. Otherwise i use a Lyman 377449 GC sized .378". It shoots well over 36 gr AA5744 at 1852 fps. Accuracy is 1.5-2.5" at 100 yards and is a good "medium load". It also would be very fine for deer. I take it up a notch with 46 gr of 4895 with a 1 gr dacron filler. Velocity is 2200 fps and accuracy runs 2.5-3" at 100 yards. It makes a fine practice load and would be fine for deer, bear and elk out to 200 yards. When zeroed 3" high at 100 yards it is stil quite "flat" to 200 yards. I've had such good performance from the RB and the one Lyman mould I've not thought about any other cast load development. Just cast, load and go shootin'. A good cast cartridge but most rifles are a tudge on the heavy side but that doesn't bother me.

I have one most favoritest load for it. Its a hunting load consisting of ww case, fed 215 primer about 70gn old H4831, and an LBT 350gn LFN GC cast of acww sized .377" lubed with speed green. The charge is thrown from an RCBS uniflow and its real easy to set, just turn it out as far as it goes.
Chronographs right at 2000 fps give or take from most guns. This boolit and load has worked very good for me from several rifles, very accurate.
I would tackle any creature in the world with this load and not feel under gunned.

buckshot made me a 377 sizer for my star this year so I should be set.

I use a CBE design (376300) (CBE is an Australian mould manufacturer). It was designed for use in the 375 BB and has a flat nose. Cast from 50/50 WW/lino, quenched, unsized, handlubed & GC fitted, it works well behind 45gr of 3031. The H&H has a relatively short neck and this bullet is quite long - I load it with the second groove out of the case. Not sure it makes any difference but where possible I try to keep the grease grooves out of the boiler room in bottleneck cases. This bullet has a wide band ahead of the GC shank and it works fine loaded this way. This load groups around 1.5 MOA but does have quite a different point of impact to jacketed.

I recall an article somewhere, crs disease, that had someone shooting a half jacket load in 375 H&H. The jacket was a spent 9mm case and the mold was bored out to fit. I didn't think it would do much that lead wouldn't but I am not setting up to hunt africa either. Gianni.

I use the RCBS boolet in my Ruger #1 loaded in front of a caseful(a little compressed) of H50BMG. Too slow a powder but 100% loading density, 2100fps and 1.25" groups at 100yds with the crummy trigger pull my gun has. Feels like a military two stage trigger.

Txpete;

I'm using the RCBS .375 - 250 gr in a post 64 M 70 with good results. Am currently burning surplus 4895 behind this boolet, but most accurate load has been 40 grains of 296 ; 2.5" at 200 yds. Lube with LLA, and seat gaschecks with the lee push thru die. Have used MR 3100 to push velocity up to 2400 f/s with this bullet wt. The case is large enough to keep pressures down while obtaining fairly flat trajectory; but I'm still interested in building a .375 Hawk/Scovill or .375 Brown/ Whelen for shooting cast.

I have an M70 SS Classic in .375 H&H. Is fitted to a HS Precision stock. Has the light Winchester trigger spring to yield a 3#, crisp release.

My moderate practice load is the 375449 GC Lyman cast in WW sized to 0.377" and lubed with Carnauba Red. Weighs 285 grains with lube. I drive them with 40 gr of AA 5744 ignited by a Winchester large rifle primer. Recoil is moderate. Groups are fair ... 2" at 100 yards, but good enough for pie plate practice from sticks.

Saves chewing up the 300 gr TSXs I use for dangerous game.

Hello MStarling. I didn`t know the whitetails in West Virginia had gotten promoted to the dangerous game catagory and need to use 300 gr. Barnes on them? [smilie=1: I know here in Mich. I have to use my .416 Taylor with 400 gr. Barnes solids on them dang wood chucks, and they`re almost as tough as your whitetails!:kidding:[smilie=1:Robert

Never had a 375 H&H, but I recently built a 375 Chatfield-Taylor. #4 contour barrel Remington 700, 8.6 pounds with scope. The best loads so far are the Lee 250 plainbase over 12.0 gr. AA#2 for 1200 fps and MOA groups at 100 yds, and the 300Gr NEI borerider over either a case full of AA 3100 or a duplex load with 17.0 gr. 2400 and 60 gr. WC872. Both loads go 2150 fps, and both can easily hit the highpower turkeys off the ebnch at 385M. So far I really like this 375!
