i was talking to an guy at an gun shop today, he offered to sale me an bulk pure lead, roofing and lead pipe maybe some xray.

he did not know how much it was going for, told him online stores 2 to 2.50 /lb. from forums 1 to 1.50/lbs.

so how much should I offer? I don't want to cheat him, he feels the same.

Remember the group buy metal is in usable clean ingots as delivered. How much work will it take to melt this stuff down and flux it and make it into ingot form.

One dollar per pound for clean lead is fair for everyone these days.
He can't get $1.00 per pound from a recycler and you will have to pay that much at most places.

Call the local recycler and match that price, plus a little. Give him the number and let him call for himself to show he is making a little more with you... Particularly if you are picking it up. He would have to deliver to the recycler's.

As noted, yo ucan find ingot lead or ww alloy for around $1/#. I would work up to that. As with anything, how bad do you want it?

It depends on how much he has, and if you are picking it up. 50 cents a pound is reasonable offer for the both of you. If he wants to take the time to smelt them into ingots, list them on ebone, box them, and haul them to the PO, for an extra 20 cents a pound that is another option for him I guess. Local scrappers will probably offer him around 15 cents a pound. Go to the local scrap yards, hit up the tire shops, a buck a pound is ridiculous, and could be likened to the yuppies who move to town and pay 250K for a 125K house. IMO 50 cents a pound is the high point.

Best idea yet Crabo.

Suo Gan , it depends where you are as to what the price that you can get for scrap is. I can get $0.70 per pound for rotton mystery junk lead locally.
