:cry:Thinking about tapping Blackhawk for scope bases.(Weigland) Do you drill though top strap or drill "blind hole" (Not all the way thur?) Smiths are factory drilled and tapped thur the strap.

I've never done one, but if I did, I would drill through as it is much easier to tap a through hole than a blind one, I.E. much less likely to break a tap.

I had a guy at the range complain that his gunsmith drilled thur the top strap. All the factory tapped Smiths are drilled thur the strap.

My pistols are drilled through the topstrap. Never caused a bit of trouble. Now I suppose thsat if you wanted to mount with half inch bolts, that could be another story, but ordinary 8x40 or 8x48 gun screws won't cause you any trouble.

I put the Weigand mounts on both my .44 SBH and .357 GP 100 and drilled through the top strap, those are only 6-48 screws. Just be careful as the front hole is very close to the back edge of the barrel forcing cone. The Weigand is an excellent mount IMO.
