I might be getting a Deerfield carbine.
Has anyone cast for it?
If so, what do you reccomend in the casting dept?

You will be limited by magazine length when loading for any of the Ruger rotary magazine guns.

Nose not to exceed 0.310 past crimp groove. Better to use 0.300 for assurance. Use a Speer jacketed profile. ... felix

Thanks guys.
If I do get it, I know what to do.
How does lube affect the gas port?

It seems to be one of those guns that apparently didn't sell too well when new, but you very seldom see one used! I shot one quite a bit when we were doing the pre production work, and the ones I shot were very accurate at 50 yards. ( the limit of Ruger's indoor range). I was part of getting the 1-20" twist in the barrels, but failed to persuade them to lengthen the magazine.......

Thanks, NH, for the twist change. I bought the lever model for that reason alone when it came out. My first 44 and only one and glad I got it. Those barrels are HARD and take a while to break in (throat, even if too long)! ... felix
