Was given this mould as was missing one alignment pin for the mould block but it still drops good casts if you are careful. Have a K-38 I would try these in and want to know if this boolit is worthy of time at the bench based on your expieriences ....

Thanks for any input here folks,,, 10 Spot

Just my .02, but if the mold you are talking about is the Lee 358-140-SWC (#90318 - 2 cav or the 90317 - 6 cav), I use this boolit over 3.5 gr of Trail Boss (in 38 special cases) and have good accuracy in my Ruger Blackhawk. Punches nice clean holes in the target as well.

In a word....Yes!

I have that mould in a 6 cavity. Yes it shoots well. I use it in .357 BH over 8.5 grains Longshot, gets me an easy 1300 fps, roughly 2" groups at 25 yds from my 4.625" barrel.

I have that boolits loaded in .38 over various amounts of Bullseye and Herco. They all work well in my .38s.

Do it. You'll like it.

I scored the same mold last Summer for $10 at a gun show. Have posted on here a few times about it. In the year I've been casting I've been most successful with it.

In .38: http://smith-wessonforum.com/s-w-hand-ejectors-1896-1961/167739-just-basic-range-report.html

And .357: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=30775941&l=1f06043a3f&id=1159624218

So far I've settled on 4.3gr HP-38 for .38s and 8.5gr Accurate No. 5 for .357. Want to play around with No. 7 for .357 and see what I get.

As for the missing alignment pin call Lee and they will probably send you a new one at no charge they are easy to put in just be carefully not to seat it too deep.

IMHO 140gr boolit in the 38 caliber handguns is the perfect balance of weight vs. velocity debate !

I load it over 2.8 grs. of CLAYS & it`s what knocks the biggest holes into swamp mud from my 38spc. snubbies , gonna chrony it 1 day!

A Lyman 402 top punch fits it perfectly !

Great boolit!

3 grains Bullseye is a good load. Mild and accurate. Have also used 4.0 to 4.5 gr. of Unique.
This spring when I get to shoot again, I'm going to try a bit more Unique. I'll see how they do above 4.5 gr.
