Every month or two I make a circut of hitting gun shops in my area and today I found a gem. In a box of miscellaneous bullet moulds, I found a new unused single cavity "Ideal" mould. I have been tempted to buy a new Lyman mould in 311284 but was leary of the recent quality concerns. I saw a new one at a gun show two weeks ago, a double cavity, for $62 - I passed hoping to find a vintage one. Well my patients paid off much sooner than I could have imagined. Bingo! a new Ideal mould in 311284! Nice Christmas present to me. Best Wishes, Bud

I also picked an old one up a gun show. Mine is 2 cavity and in great shape. Throws good boolits. I have shot them once with good results but I think can do better experimenting with powders. This is one of the oldies but goodies. Congratulations on your find. Enjoy.

I used the Lyman #311284 lead cast with the bullets that weighed 218gr with no lube or gas check. I then used Lyman's orange magic lube with Hornady 30cal gas checks
The OVERALL LENGTH IS : 3.266", however the lyman's manual's OVL works fine as well.
THIS POWDER CHARGE WORKED FOR ME, HOWEVER I WILL NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR RELOADS : 13.0gr RED DOT ~ 1,350 FPS
