Good point - it would just make more problems to have it.
Top punch not included with this mould.

To use this bullet the way it is designed it has to be the base
shown on the drawing - a GC would not work.

in one of my 30-30 single shots the band must be reduced to .312 or it wont shoot and will leads like the Dickens in the throat @ .315.Best sized nose first with a flat punch. It shot well die seated i the neck a bit also.

That is a good point; I sure won't be shooting these through one of my M1s, so a 4-cavity is probably a bit of excess capacity. I'd like to switch to a 2-cavity brass mold also.

I have an original 311403 2 cavity. Is that essentially the same boolit? I haven't tried it in anything yet. I was going to try it in my FN 1951 .30-06 Mauser. These don't get resized right?

I'm looking forward to returning to the States so I can experiment with mine. I'm going to try mine in several different rifles, in .30-30, .30-40, .308, and .30-'06.

Speaking of that, does anyone have any load data for this bullet that they'd care to share? There is at least one thread on the CBA forums about this bullet - kinda long, but very interesting.

Hello

I got the mold and want to cast this week , I know I need to lube and not
size it , but what's the best way to lube it?

Daniel

SwedeNelson

DWM

I load a round then dip it in "Rooster Jacket"
http://www.roosterlabs.com/products.html
http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i80/swedenelson/30BR308403.jpg
Dip bullet to case in lube stand up and let dry over night.
Have only started to work up loads. A case full of Trail Boss gives you just about
1150 FPS and shot OK at 100 yards.
Hope to make it to the range again this week.

Liquid Alox should work great.

thehouseproduct
7Gr. of Trail Boss (may not be the best powder for it)
would give you about 1116FPS.
What powder are you thinking of using?
With the bullet just thumb seated I don't think
I would use it in a auto loader.
Have some loaded for my 300 whisper bolt gun.
The loaded rounds in post #60 are 30 Rem. BR.

Just need to get to the range

Al,
I don't have Trailboss. I have Red Dot, Green Dot, WST, 700X, Unique, 2400, H4198, H110, H335, AA#2, and AA#5 plus slower rifle powders.

I have a single shot Savage that I plan on using this in.

My next most important question is on alloy. I realized I have only 6 lbs of straight WW alloy left that is suitable for rifle boolits. I have plenty of 50% WW / 50% Pure Pb. Is that alloy hard enough for this boolit if I water drop it? I have read that this boolit doesn't like high velocity, 1200fps is usually where the accuracy is.

Shot the 30 Rem. BR 100 yards
http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i80/swedenelson/Target30BR308403.jpg
First one high, next three nice little group .417
Fourth shot opened it up to .79
ACWW 12Gr. Trail Boss 1382 FPS.

thehouseproduct
Going to try a starting load of H4198 12.5Gr. ACWW in the 300 whisper
Quick load shows it at 1240FPS.

Shot the boolit in my 300 Whisper bolt gun this weekend.
http://www.thehousebmx.com/arfcom/Pope.JPG
This was my first attempt at any kind of accuracy from a cast boolit. This was water dropped 50/50 pure lead and wheel weights with tin added. They were pan lubed with paraffin/bees wax/Vaseline. The group shown was at 50 yards from a bench with a bipod. Load was 14.0 grains of H4198 with a CCI41 primer. It measured a touch over 0.900". I know that barely less than 2MOA but I'm OK with it for a first attempt.
