I have a Turkish Mauser and a Yugo that I just traded for. I also acquired a mold from Midsouth that throws a 240 grain flat nosed bullet bullet from my alloy in 8mm. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this combination or 4350 powder as that sound like a good powder for that heavy of bullet and full power loads. I like to get up to about 1900 fps for deer loads. I used heat treated bullets.

.............I loaded a Lee Group Buy 236gr slug to 2300 fps in a Turk M38/46. I used surplus WC852 (Slow) which was comparable to IMR4831. You certainly CAN use 4350 in your situation, although I would use a true filler in the case over your start loads. Grex is long gone as a reloading component. I currently use Super Sam, which is also a shotshell shot buffer.

It's much finer then Grex was. Be sure to compress the filler well before seating the boolit. I'd start just maybe 5 grs below the start load as the filler will boost pressures a bit.

I loaded the 250gr Maximum over AA4350 in RP cases and with F215 primers. Loads ranged from 35-39gr and 35gr produced the best groups from my 1944 K Kale Turk. The alloy was water dropped and 15-18 bhn. My notes show that I shot 58 yards with receiver sight:

35gr .69"
36gr 1.59"
37gr 1.52"
38gr 3.97" and vertical
39gr 3.57" and vertical

I also tried 30-33gr surplus IMR 4895 with a 225gr and all looked promising, but I haven't revisited that powder. H322 looked good in the 24-26gr range with both the 225gr and 250gr. Reloader 7 looked promising in the 24-27gr range with the 225gr. 18-19gr AA5744 was mild and accurate with 195-250gr in my rifle. All of these loads were with standard primers and not magnum.

Grex is long gone, but I use PSB. Link is above.
