View Full Version : So how big are the differences

I've been fooling with the forty-five ACP a bit and making up hardball equivalent loads with my Lyman mold . Just for giggles , I looked at the other companies "hardball" molds and saw some close copies ... I think .

Perhaps pictures aren't telling the whole story but it looks to me like the Ballisti-cast ( H&G ) number thirty-four and the RCBS 45-230-RN look a lot alike . Does anyone have a these two molds in their collection ? I'd like to know just how close they are .

Thanks , Jack

I have the H&G #34 (Balisti-Cast #634) and it appears to have more ogive than the RCBS 45-230-RN. The RCBS is similar to the Magma 45-230 RN.

OK , A little different ojive , the bearing surface looks the same to me also and looks like it has a very slight step or shoulder before it turns to ojive .

For all practical purposes I wonder if the RCBS would work as well as the Magma or the Ballisti-cast ?

I don't think you would be able to tell much real difference between them. All three have a shoulder step and about the same bearing surface.
