Does anyone have any loads for the 357 Max with Unique? I have lots of data with 296, lilgun and RX7.

I have both pistol and rifle. A Dan Wesson, 8" barrel and a Win Low Wall with a 28" barrel.

I'd like something in the 1000 - 1300 range for the pistol with 158 - 200 gr bullets and see what it does in the rifle.

Thank you, Artful. I think i'll try 8.5 with 158's and 10.0 with my 208 gr cast. I also use those same charges in my 45 Colt, both with the same 250 gr cast bullet.

I have had velocity excursions with heavy charges of Unique in .357 Max and .454 Casull. Use a cronograph as you work your way up, and when velocity becomes erratic, back off.

I have never heard of Unique detonating, but I guess it is possible.

Frank I'm glad you ran this one up the pole. I have been wondering if anyone has had any luck using unique or trail boss in the max with cast. What I am seeking is a nice accurate, soft recoiling, not obnoxiously loud, plinker load with the 358627 or the noe 360180.

The TC/contender book of loads has published data for blue dot and the 358627 in both the mag and max cases. It's going to be spring before the weather here is fit for a trip to the range to experiment in Iowa.

Fox,
I have a few PB 150-160 gr molds and a 35875 mold that casts 208 gr. bullets. My Dan Wesson is nice and heavy so, I thought I might find a comforable load to shoot in it so, that I'll shoot it more. My best high end cast load for it is 25.0 gr Rx7 and the 358315 bullet. I'll do some Unique loads this spring and hopefully find a nice mid load with it.
