I have a Carl Gustaf 1916 6.5 X 55 Swedish Mauser with a 23.1" barrel. Where can I find an original wood stock for this rifle? It came with an aftermarket plastic.

Jim,

I've got three or four stocks with upper wood left that are leftover from the days I used to sporterize these for guys -- you could cut one down if you wanted as they are from the M96, not the M38 short version. They're beat up military stocks as usual for 100 year old wood but still serviceable....

Shoot me a PM if you're interested. God knows what shipping will be on these because of length.....................

Thanks, Taz! The problem I have is I don't know exactly what model my rifle is. I've been told that all that were made prior to 1938 are model 96s. But it has a 23.1" barrel. Is it a '96 carbine? I've also been told there's a 96/38, the one I have.

I'M SO CONFUSED!!:veryconfu

UPDATE: Taz is th' man! He looked up my rifle and found that it is classified as a Swedish Model 38 Short Rifle. At least now I know what I have.

Jim,

Here's what I have from Numrich, you'll need parts number:
One of the #10's (diff stock grades)
#9
#44 - Not listed *
#45 - Not listed *
#46 - Not listed *
#11 - 2 of these
#12 *
#25
#40-43 *
#22 *

* = Gun parts doesn't have it buy I *may* if the stock hardware interchanges from M96 to M38 (barrel bands, handgaurd bands, swivels, etc).

Anyone who knows Mausers and may want to see if I missed anything this is the schematic we're looking at to see if we can round up the Numrich (Gun Parts Corp) numbers to get this rifle back to stock.

We've identified it as a model 38 Swede short rifle -- Jim does it have a straight bolt or a bent bolt?? Jim is trying to get it back to bone stock, feel free to chime in.

Kind of a fun thing to do on a snowy (we're getting hammered again here...) cold day along with some casting thrown in!

Her's an update, with pictures of the rifle, on the POST (http://fgsp.wordpress.com/2010/12/17/6-5-x-55-carl-gustav-swedish-mauser/) I put up about slugging the throat and bore.
