:coffee: ---My K-31 seems to like a 200gr. Lee boolit and 29grs. of 30-31---I shoot it off hand at a steel plate 180yds.---open sites---A pleasure to shoot and not abusive. When time permits I will up the charge and watch for pressure signs---Seems like everyone at the range notices the rifle with the strait pull bolt and produces a lot of conversation.----Mag

19.5g of SR4759 with a 180 g lfpgc boolit gives you 1375 +- and great accuracy in the K31 and I have had no leading, or if you have a lot of WC872 pull down powder from 50BMG I use the same HC boolit with 51g at 1875fps +- with good accuracy. I shoot these loads in my K31 but you use them at your own risk. I have never had any problems with pressure or signs at all.

I have a load of 31.0 gr IMR 3031 and a #311299GC 204.5gr doing about 1850 average. It shoots well @ 50yds, under a inch. My old eyes don't do so good @ 100. Bin working the load up a bit to see what happens. Got to keep the chrony in the car or I'll forget it!
I want to try Reloader 15 next any info would be a help. Same boolit, they need to be seated prety deep, not too much throat.

I've been using H4350 with 150 gr M2 pulls. It took a lot of fooling with powder and bullet seating to get an accurate round, but it's cheap and I shoot the K31 a lot.

The K31 has got to be the biggest bargin in a rifle, I just can't say enough about them. For a rifle that only cost a little over a 100 bucks, and shoot like they do is unbelievable. I shot it quite a bit in our weekly vintage military matches, and the straight pull is real nice during the rapid sitting and rapid prone stages. The paper reloading clips are fragile, but work just fine for the rapids, I was using two mags, but after a little practice I just use the clip.

Yeah, the Swiss chargers work great!

They experimented with clips, like Mausers use, but never adopted them. The K-31 is cut for them. The cardboard charger is a lot easier to use.

Since we are talking Swiss here, I have a question. I recently picked up a 1911 30" bbl rifle. Does anybody make a good scope mounty system? 57 year olds with tri-focals are not the best iron sight shooters in Idaho.

:coffee: ---Have loaded as high as 34grs. of 3031 with no signs of pressure---will eventually go to 36grs. when weather warms again and I can test the accuracy of increased loads----so far 29 to 32grs. of 3031 have performed well in my K - 31---Mag

S&K has a scout style mount that replaces the rear sight and there is at least one other drill and tap mount out there.

Darrel at M-39 Scout has been making tank-tough no drill scout mounts for a number of years now. I have two of his, one on my Finnish M-39 and one on my K-31. They are very affordable and easy to install. I really REALLY like mine!:drinks:

There is a whole forum devoted to his scout mounts. You can also get the ordering info on this page:

I use 38 gr of 3031 with the group buy 177gr 31141gc, GP11 case, berdan primer. It does real well at 200 and 300 yards, but at 600 it opens up a lot.

Mag,
How far are you pushing in those 200 grn Lee Boolits when you set the seating die. I was curious since I just left my work room casting the same boolits. I can whip up a batch and see if my K-31 likes them.

I just ordered one of Darrell's mounts. I will report on it when it arrives and is installed. Probably won't get to try it out until spring.

----SKIKIV----Works out pretty much that I'm in the crimp grove-----They always chamber well---check to see if you engrave the rifling at all --- I believe I tried to set it just short of the rifling by a few Th's. Enjoy the hell out of this rifle as it dose most of the work---I just stand there and hold it pointed in the direction of a steel plate that is mostly a blur----183yrds. and plate (one foot wide and 1.5 ft. long approximately) sets in bank--A lot of the time I'm just shooting at where I remember the plate being or a shadow that helps to locate it. Much easier to see on a clear day. I also use that 200gr. boolit in the .308----------Mag

versifier- It looks a lot like spring here today!! Let hear about the scope mount when you get it. I have a scope that needs a rifle and the K31 may be it! Merry Christmas!
