I have been told of a 310 Martini for sale.
Locally, maybe could use it for the military shoot etc
Haven't seen it yet thou.
Someone has put a 2 groove barrel on it.
Do they shoot worth a hoot in 2 groove ??
Or stick to round bores??
Please tell me the good bad or ugly.
Thanks
Bruce
Bruce:
Take a look at this. 2 groove barrels and cast bullets are made for each other !

My latest Cadet rifle is the 310 cadet action with a 2groove springfield barrel turned down to fairly light contour and cut to 20". Redfield reciever sights are mounted and a pistol grip stock looks ok- chambering is 30WCF- just right for this compact, light rifle.
Since I've acquired this little beauty she's never seen a J-word round, and had only lightly loaded 311391 and 311041 boolits over 10.0gr Unique. Just the thing on ground squirrels out to about 75-100yds (limited by my eyesight only)-
This is my first experience with a 2groove barrel, but I notice it to be very easy on a cast boolit, and extremely easy to keep clean-
I would use a 2groove barrel again anytime.
I think I saw Jesse Occumpaugh (JES) offering a 2groove option in his reboring service- I may give that a try soon on another project--

The rifle I believe is chambered for the 310 cadet round.
I was wondering if I could have trouble with healed bullets if the groove dia was too big or loading standard lead bullets sized to suit it.
Sound like the 2 groove has potential.
How does the 30-30 chamber with longer than the 170's ?
I presume you would have to keep the pressure down a bit for the lack of beef in the chamber area.
thanks

I had a 2 groove in a .303 British No. 4. Even though the bore was a bit rough, it would shoot the Lee 115 grain RFN with gas check into a ragged hole. I see no reason that a .310 using the same barrel wouldn't work as well.
