I have a Ranch Dog TLC359190 mold and I am looking for a SAFE load to shoot in a Ruger Blackhawk with 6 1/2" tube. Ranch Dog only has loads listed for Marlin 1894. I have H110 and Unique and 2400 on hand.
Thanks

Are you confusing a Blackhawk with a Vaquero? Blackhawks can take higher pressure. I shoot 270 gr boolit with 9.5 gr of Universal for 1060 fps. Can't help with your listed powders.

I have used 13.5 grains of H-110 under 180 grain jacketed bullets with safety, and sucess, and I would think that you could work up to that safely too.

Yes, it's a Blackhawk. The only loads I can find is for Marlin 1894 rifle loads. Can I shoot Rifle loads in a Pistol?
Thanks

Yes, loads for the Blackhawk can generally be used in the Marilin 1894, and the opposite is true too.

I show 10 to 10.6 grains of 2400 in a 357 magnum. 2400 is the powder I prefer for 32-20 and 41 magnum.

Hope that helps,
Ron

There is a section in the Speer #12 loading manual for silhouette loads for the .357 Mag in the contender and heavy frame revolvers. The oal is longer than standard loads, freeing up a little space in the boiler room. These were loaded to 1.690", which fits my Blackhawk with a little room to spare. I loaded the RD boolit cast of water dropped ww over Win 296 at 1.690" and reached 1236 fps. I eased it up a little more, at 1250 fps extraction got a little sticky, whoa, too much of a good thing. When time and weather permits I will drop down and try switching primers then ease it back up. Not sure if there is going to be enough gain over a standard length load to make it worth while. I haven't tried 2400 yet, that is down the road. Good Luck.

in my gp100, i have been using 35875 200gr with 12.5gr h110 in shortened 357 cases to fit the cylinder. this is near max in my gun, so work up slowly.
