I haven't cast bullets in about 15 years but I have a need for cast bullets now so I'm gearing up for it, one thing I never did was use gas checks but I want to use them for this application.
How thick is a standard copper gas check?
Does anybody make them for a .40 cal. pistol bullet?
I've read some of the stuff on the home made coke can gc's and was wondering, does gc thickness and material affect accuracy?
Thanks

I don't see Lyman or Hornady listing 40 caliber gas checks, you could call around some. I usually buy them by the 1000 lot, just easier. I'm not sure a 40 has enough velocity to put gas checks to use, it's also fairly new. Standard copper gas check is around .017 or so. Thickness and material don't affect accuracy as much as they do use, at least, as far as I know.

Contact Blammer in this forum to buy Gator 40 caliber gas checks. They measure .380 inside diameter, .414 outside.
